Masterpiece part 1

I am not sure this education system we are being taught with, "Open-Source Learning" that Dr. Preston has introduced to us is present in Mexico but if not i would like to continue this way of learning in Mexico. I believe there are very intelligent people all over the world this is why this strategy of posting statuses in our blogs will prove this statement. This was a gift, an opportunity really that was granted to me and my fellow classmates and Mexico would be a great place to start and i would like to introduce this method of teaching.

A STEP AHEAD OF THE HOUND

1. Montag planted some books at the Black's house and then turned them in by ringing up the alarm so they would burn their home. 2. 3. The screen of Faber's t.v. is the size of a postal card, very small accurate to the palm of a hand. 4. The news is on the t.v. the segment is about Guy Montag still fugitive and how they brought in another hound to locate Montag. 5. He was running to the river, he was actually at the river when everyone was out of their houses already.

THE CHASE IS ON

1.The hound attacked Montag because it was aware of what Montag had done to Beatty and it reacted to him and believed he had done something wrong. 2. Montag reacted to the hound by throwing a flamethrower at Beatty and he killed the non-living thing. 3. Montag realized Beatty actually wanted to die because he did nothing while Montag torched Beatty with a flamethrower. 4. Montag began to run he had no idea of where to go but decided to go to Faber's but first he went to a gas station where he cleaned himself up. 5. When Montag decided to cross the street he didn't look both ways before doing so and because of that a car almost ran him over after that a car began to chase him.

Montag kills

Montag killed beatty for many reasons i believe first of all Beatty demanded Montag to burn down his own home, and he kept on insisting books are nothing but trash, he also mentioned he would kill Professor Faber because he had been talking/helping Montag.

What I See In Literature

''streets"             >           "tedious argument"      |                                            |           lost w/ confusion                     reason (Simile)                              (simile) "restless nights" > nights are never restless, they are what make us restless (personification) When simile is used in a story we see what the author meant, sometimes do not understand with words but we understand because of the similes used. I think its maybe just my imagination. Personification uses real life things but puts them out their differently, i do not know if that makes sense but it makes sense in my head and that's how i understa...

Prufrock

Gosh this was something people can relate to and it is unfortunately something sad people go through. I never realized you know that someone can describe what they feel in such a way that it is difficult for the audience to depict what the author is trying to say. Honestly T.S. Eliot knew what he was saying and he knew what would get the audience's attention. He described how many people feel but can't say on their own. Because sadly this is what people go through, they are scared people judge them, or they feel like they aren't good enough, or that they are less than others. And just that T.S. Eliot explained in a poem. IN A POEM!!!! C'mon now there are very few writers who can do that, well at least thats what i think.

#ADAYWITHOUTIMMIGRANTS

I never realized how important it was for family to stay home yesterday and do absolutely nothing. My plan was to attend school on Thursday 16, 2017, but the day before i was hanging out with my sister and she asked if i was going to go school on Thursday i said ''of course'' i know some of my teachers wouldn't be okay with the idea that their students' would not attend class because of some silly silent protest, and i knew that is how some teachers felt, little did they know there are people out there who believe this protest will make a change. So as i said before i confirmed i was attending class, and she instantly branded me as a ''traitor'', now i know she didn't mean to say it that way, but yet i've never been called that especially if it what she had just called me was false. In that moment though i believed it i felt as if i had let my family down not only my family, but my race. That same day i mentioned something that upset my m...
1. Who did Nick write editorials for ? 2. Where did Daisy and Tom Buchannan live for a year and then move to? 3. Who is Catherine and how is she physically described? 4. How is the moment Mrs. Wilson nose getting broken described as? 5. How is a little party sarcastically described from what you've read about Gatsby's parties? 6. How do Gatsby and Nick meet, is it the usual meet and greet? 7. How do we know the driver that crashed his car against a wall was drunk? 8. Who was Bunsen from where does Nick know him from? 9. How did Brewer loose his nose?

Gatsby 3

Fiction is the lie that tells the truth. "     " (Quotation Marks) are sometimes used for sarcastic purposes Anachronism- a person who is out of time Displacement- a character or thing that is out of place From what is described about Gatsby's party, the guests aren't always invited they just go, not to mention rude and stuck up. Guests are always in groups and its not usual to see someone alone ....

Journal Topic 1/27

From what I understand the story begins by talking about not Nick but his half cousin Daisy, and her husband, Tom's infidelity. So when I think about The Great Gatsby, I think about its first paragraph and the song I can connect to this section is "Whhat Goes Around Comes Around" by J. Timberlake. Because I do believe Tom's infidelity won't be forgiven. That he'll get what he deserves.

Usually a "normal" student pays attention and they actually understand what a story is about, or what the teacher is saying, but in this case I'm not the "normal" student here. Somehow I try so hard to understand this book, the words said, and it's meanings but maybe it's the fact that I'm trying so hard to understand its main idea that doesn't allow me to understand the meaning of those words in those pages. So .... This is what I've understood so far, or at least think i understand: Basically, this guy "Nick" which by the way takes his time until later on in the story to expose his name  which is probably relevant I just dont understand why. So, Nick talks about the setting he is in, he is so so SO detailed in what he talks about. And it's so ridiculously insane how he describes the setting or maybe it's just me? Anyway... He speaks of his half cousin, Daisy and her husband I forgot his name haha, he mentions he has know...

Great Gatsby 1 & 2

Epigraph- a qoute that comes un the beginning of the story that gives a clue of what the story might be about. "Two old friends, that i scarcely knew at all"- he talks about how he knew those people but they have changed, they're different from what he remembers. Daisy and "Nick" use act like gestures when speaking.  Daisy is unhappy, this was shown when explained that after she moves forward she doesn't hesitate in moving back. Why does "Nick" give his name until later on in the story?

Video Notes

•to be or not to be >> (a question)   (To die or not to die) •people have the idea that they aren't smart because great people have told them that they are not smart, so that is what they believe. •adults had very different ideas of school when they were children now in these days teenagers have a totally complete different idea about school. We aren't caring, we are ignoring the things that were meant for our good and out futures, we aren't focused. • none of us exist by ourselves we were made in a way by others and their knowledge. Myths of creativity>> moment of insight.

Music As Literature

Can we consider music to be literature? What is thr difference between a novel, poem, rap, song, an opera, and a symphony? Poem- a piece of writing that partakes the nature  of both speech and a song that is nearly always rythmical. Rap- a type of popular mucic of US black origin in which words are recited rapidly and rhythmically. Song- a short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung.  Novel- a fictitious prose narrative a book length, typically representing character and action with some degree of realism. Opera- a dramatic work in one or more acts, st to music for singers and instrumentalists. Yes, I think music is considered literature because just like an essay, a poem, a novel has words with a meaning, a song does too. A song has creativity, as a novel would too except communication is actually  included on a song too by the author or any other person who presents the song to an audience. Music has tone, it has the feels. E...

Video ''American Literature"

11/21/16 Nice and interesting video. Seems like he learned a lot with you. Good Job Dr. P. Is this the student you were talking about on Thursday?

Isn't It Funny ?

i probably should have read the journal topic first this morning instead of posting on my blog first. That way i didn't bring myself down and given myself a better attitude and more confidence for this test on "The Sounds Of Thunder".

I'm Gonna Fail This Test

I'm not prepared and I'm feeling a little insecure about the test today. I don't have a good feeling about this, I know I should be thinking positively about this subject but I'm rather feeling uncomfortable about this exam which I will probably score low on HAHA. mmkay bye

What was i supposed to title this?

Daaammn I was procrastinating to read this story and when I started it, I though "what?" I don't fully understand what's going  on right now. I didn't understand what the words meant but then I pondered a little and came up with the idea that maybe if i re-read the sentences or phrases i don't understand I'd understand it, so I did and when I did re-read this story i thought daaang who came up with this? not only is it entertaining but it seems so realistic because of the way it is described and put together. The diction and syntax man, its used so perfectly. I think I'm gonna start reading a lot more of what Dr. Preston suggests.
